WHAT IS CHANZI?

Chanzi is a common and widespread fly also known as Black Soldier Fly or Hermetia illucens in Latin. The larvae and adults are considered neither pests nor vectors. Instead, the larvae play a role as essential decomposers in breaking down organic substrates and returning nutrients to the soil. Chanzi are an excellent source of sustainable protein for aquaculture, animal feed, and pet and human nutrition. The larvae have voracious appetites and can be used for composting household food scraps and agricultural waste products.

WHAT IS THE NUTRITIONAL VALUE OF CHANZI?

The nutritional values depending on the stage at which the larvae are harvested but can be summarized as follows:
● 50% crude protein
● 20% Fat (ether extract/lipids)
● 12% ash
● 8% moisture
● 6% calcium
● 2% phosphorus
● 2% nitrogen free extract (NFE)

IS YOUR PRODUCE CHEMICAL FREE?

Yes. Beside the high protein content animals and birds can digest Chanzi quicker and more efficient that fishmeal or soya. This leads to faster growth rates and healthier animals.

WHERE CAN I BUY YOUR PRODUCTS?

You can only buy our products directly from our farm. We also arrange shipping across Tanzania at an additional cost.

CAN I FEED CHANZI TO OTHER ANIMALS BESIDES CHICKEN?

Yes. Poultry, fish, pigs, lizards, turtles, dogs, cats etc can all eat Chanzi as part of their diet. Contact your local veterinary or animal specialist before making a final decision to feed your animals Chanzi.

CAN I EAT CHANZI?

Yes you can, at your own risk. It probably won’t taste very good but go ahead and give it a try :-)
